Friday Flashback and Caturday Art and not good health update.

I rarely update on my health situation and am only putting it here. On my last scheduled scan a cancer lesion in my bowel was inflamed. My doctor scheduled another scan for 3 months to see if there was any change and I had that just before we went on the cruise.

I had a consultation on Tuesday and was told the inflammation had gone BUT there are two new lesions on my liver, so it has started to spread. The cancer pills are no longer working and the only option left is traditional chemo. Because I have had so many bad side effects they don't think the "go in hard" will suit me and the "soft" approach will be better. That entails going in once a week for 18 weeks. I always said I would never have chemo because of what my mother went through 40+ years ago, but now it has come to it I feel I have no option. Yes, I am scared!

This flashback comes from June 2010 and is called:

Seeking Mr. Mouse.

Flynn: This is my favourite place to go mousie hunting. The hedge is full of mousie holes and if I sit quietly, I can usually hear them.

Shhh, I hear one.

I pounce but sometimes they run too far down their hole where I can't reach them.

I put my arm down as far as I can to see if I can feel them down there.

Eric: Watcha doin' Flynn? Have you got a mousie?

Well come on, have you got it or not? Let me see.

Flynn: Stand back, I need to look down the hole.

I can't see him.

I need to have another feel around.
I couldn't feel him so I tried to dig him out. I didn't get him but I made his front door a lot bigger.
Watch me try to dig him out on video.

Don't get complacent Mr. Mousie, your card has been marked and I will be back tomorrow.

  1. I'm so sorry you are dealing with that again and I'm sending tons of hugs and love your way. You got this! Lovely post today too.

  2. My thoughts are with you, Jackie, and with Ivor, too. You can beat this. Chemotherapy isn't what it was forty years ago; all of medicine is much more improved, and the improvements have actually filtered down to us ordinary people. You can and will win. I have no doubt that Eric and Flynn are watching over you, too.

  3. We do love seeing the boys have fun. But we are also thinking of you. It definitely is scary, but things have come a long way since your mother's treatments. Keep fighting and stay strong. We will cross our paws for you and Mom will add you to her prayer list. <<>

  4. You are in my heart and prayers.

The boys were certainly funny about mice, with one hunting and the other eating. Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

  5. Sending you purrayers and purrs. Echoing John Bellen, in 40 years cancer treatments have come a long way. We will keep you in our prayers. Your fear is very understandable, but your courage in going ahead is admirable.

  6. Dearest Jackie,
Flynn was dead serious about getting that Mousie out of its hole. They have so much patience...!
As for your health issues—those are serious.
Glad you did share it here as a shared burden makes it half a burden and you need all the support in the world.
Prayers and positive thinking will carry you through!!!
    Big all around hugs,

  7. I am so sorry, Jackie. That's such a tough and scary situation. I know it's been a while since we got to chat on Facebook, but I still think of you and wonder how you are. Please, please drop me a line on Facebook anytime or send me an email. I'm here praying for you and cheering you on in your fight. The boys send purrs. We all send love <3

  8. Mouse hunting was a serious hobby for Eric and Flynn.

Now you have a serious problem too...and we here are praying that it will go well. I know that nowadays treatments are very specific to the type of tumours and hence very different than the one size fits all approach of years gone by. As are the medications they use to counter some of the side effects.

You have the support of all of 'Blogville', and if we could be there to 'hold your hand' we would.
Hugs, prayers and love at this hard time.🥰🙏❤️

  9. So sorry to read, you've taken a slight
turn for the worse...never mind, think
    positive, onwards and upwards...God Bless!

And the boys are doing what they were
    always good at...hunting...! :0).

  11. Love those mousers doing their thing - teamwork! As for you sweet friend - I have every confidence in your strength to deal with chemo and others have said it here but chemo has changed a lot. Hopefully your considerable strength will conquer the task of going through it. You are a rock. You WILL do this. I will be praying for you as always and your Angels will be with you in spirit. Big Hugs..........

  13. Jackie, you and Ivor are in my thoughts and prayers. I, too, echo John's comment about advances in treatment. This IS a scary, BIG thing... Please be kind and compassionate with your Self and know that you have the loving energy of so many surrounding you. I would like to think that the boys will be with you in spirit too. 🙏❤️

  14. Dear Jackie, I am sorry to see you must do the chemo now. Keeping your spirit up during this time is important as going for the treatments. I pray you have little reaction. And that boy Flynn certainly was not afraid to get his paws dirty! Lynn and Precious

    Loved seeing that digging video.

  19. I always look forward to the boys on Friday and they certainly were up to the mouse challenge in these pictures.
I am so sorry your cancer is back. However, as several folks have pointed out, chemo has change an awful lot in the last 40 years. I've had breast cancer twice with 30 years in between. Surgery, radiation, and chemo with both but far fewer side effects with the most recent. I hope the same for you. Your and Ivor will be in our thoughts along with those of the rest of your follower.

  20. Loved the pics of Eric and Flynn (this week and always). Mousie hunting is very exciting. Feeling around in their holes sometimes works or not. Mousies can dig VERY deep with only tiny paws!

TBT says the cancer/chemo stuff is very serious stuff. We have no experience withhh that. But we wish you a smooth trip through it , if that is possible.

  21. Did Flynn ever get that mousie? He sure was tenacious. Such cute photos. Jackie, I am so sorry that you are going to have to go through chemo, but it is much different now than 40 years ago. I definitely will be praying for you. Is a liver transplant an option? Thank you so much for the puzzles. Love, hugs and prayers, Janet 💓

  22. I am so sorry to know you're going through this. I'll be thinking of you, and I'm sure Eric and Flynn will be watching over you. You have a lot of people and pets pulling for you. I will be sure Fiona and Bell are on it too. Thanks for sharing the kitty memories. The "I can't see him" picture especially made me laugh. :)

  23. I am sorry that the meds are no longer working. I will be praying for you along with everyone else who loves you. I agree it is wise to do the lesser amount more often.

  33. I enjoyed seeing that digging to China for Mr. Mousie! Those boys were unequaled anywhere~!!
Jackie, the several who mentioned it to you are right. Chemo is no where near what it must have been like all those years ago. I went 12 years with my oldest son for targeted chemo and, yes, he did have surgeries. In the last 4 years it became immunotherapy. If you are not already having it, please ask about immunotherapy. It is administered with an IV but there was no illness associated with it, for my son. Is it tme to have Radiotherapy...aka with x-rays? Amazingly effective.

  34. Jackie, you have every ounce of our purrs - that's mine, Bridget and Penny's - that all goes well. Mom Julie will do the praying for both you and Ivor. Sending hugs. xxxxoooo

  43. Jackie, we send courage to you and of course you are scared. Being scared is normal with something of this troubling. Keep your faith in the 18 weeks that are planned to help you fight this and think only of the day you are in and then the next and then the next and keep your mind positive that medical help will heal.
Love from our family to yours.

  50. So sorry to hear this update Jackie. I'm sad things have taken a turn and you now need chemo. I can understand your anxiety, but in the years since your mother received chemo, it has been vastly refined and I'd generally less arduous to have. Sending you so much love, and healing thoughts. Hoping your treatment is ok and your recovery good.

  54. Oh Jackie, I am so sorry you have to go through this. I hope you will be able to tolerate your treatment enough to keep on going as normal. Please keep on your doing your blogs about Eric and Flynn. The pictures you have are treasures you share. Apologies if I keep on mixing up the boys. It's easier to know who is who if they're both in the picture. Your art pieces are always extra stunning. I think they would make a great book along with your comments.
I hope you have friends or family to lend you support at this difficult time. Hugs, Wendy & Dani ❤️
